Steel bars are usually divided into multiple grades according to their strength and performance. Different grades of steel bars have different tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and other characteristics, suitable for different engineering needs. According to relevant Chinese standards, steel bars can be mainly divided into the following grades:
1. HRB335 (Grade 3 steel bars)
Yield strength: not less than 335 MPa.
Tensile strength: usually between 490-675 MPa.
Features: HRB335 steel bars are mainly used for ordinary concrete structures in building structures. It is suitable for conventional construction projects with low earthquake resistance and bearing capacity requirements.
Scope of application: Generally used for low-load projects, such as civil buildings, public buildings, etc.
2. HRB400 (Grade 4 steel bars)
Yield strength: not less than 400 MPa.
Tensile strength: usually between 570-770 MPa.
Features: HRB400 steel bars have high strength and plasticity, good ductility, and are suitable for high-strength, high-seismic concrete structures.
Scope of application: Suitable for medium-loaded building structures, such as high-rise buildings, large bridges, etc.
3. HRB500 (grade 5 steel bars)
Yield strength: not less than 500 MPa.
Tensile strength: usually between 675-835 MPa.
Features: HRB500 steel bars have high strength and are suitable for projects that require high tensile and compressive properties. It has good toughness, weldability and machinability, and is suitable for structures that bear large loads.
Scope of application: Suitable for projects with large load structures and high strength requirements, such as bridges, earthquake-resistant buildings, etc.
4. HRB600 (grade 6 steel bars)
Yield strength: not less than 600 MPa.
Tensile strength: usually between 720-900 MPa.
Features: HRB600 steel bar is a high-strength steel bar, suitable for structures requiring high compressive strength and earthquake resistance. It is suitable for special engineering projects with high bearing capacity requirements.
Scope of application: Generally used for specially designed buildings, deep foundations, super high-rise buildings, etc.
5. Cold-rolled ribbed steel bar (CRB)
Features: Cold-rolled ribbed steel bar is superior to hot-rolled steel bar in strength and ductility, especially in the construction process, it has good formability and is suitable for structures with higher requirements for strength and processability.
Application: Usually used in projects with high requirements for strength and toughness.
Differences between different steel bar grades:
Strength difference: As the grade of steel bar increases, the yield strength and tensile strength of steel bar also increase accordingly. Therefore, high-grade steel bar is suitable for structures with high bearing capacity requirements.
Applicable environment: Low-grade steel bar (such as HRB335) is suitable for conventional buildings and projects with low bearing capacity; while high-grade steel bar (such as HRB500, HRB600) is suitable for projects with high earthquake resistance requirements, large loads or special requirements.
Cost difference: As the strength grade increases, the cost of steel bars will also increase. Therefore, when choosing steel bars, it is necessary to make reasonable choices based on the specific requirements of the project.
