A large delegation from China, more than 350 companies participated in the Metallurgical Forum. Most exhibitors, both traditional and new, highly appreciated the professional composition of the audience. CEOs of large steel and metal trading companies personally participated in meetings with partners and consumers. The size of delegations ranged from 50 to 100 people, and more than 4,500 experts worked on the stands, including 1,000 Chinese participants. According to data from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, steel production in the first nine months of 2023 reached 57.2 million tons, an increase of 4.4% over the same period last year. Finished rolling production reached 48.3 million tons, an increase of 3.2% year-on-year. Non-ferrous metallurgy also achieved good results. Thus, the production of high-value-added non-ferrous metals soared by 33% in the first nine months of the year compared with the same period last year. This growth was driven by domestic consumption. The demand for steel in the domestic economy increased significantly, up more than 15% year-on-year, an increase of 4.5 million tons. In addition, the consumption of pipe products increased by about 6%, or 500,000 tons. The Russian metallurgical industry currently faces many major challenges, such as creating new steel grades, increasing the output of high-quality rolling mill products for use in various sectors, and replacing imported equipment and components.
